The music is centered around the conscious, unusual, and award winning songwriting from all members of the band.The CD album Roots Trade has been widely distributed in Brazil by the Garra Communications label.

Based
in Austin, Texas, the Root 1 band features the soulful vocal harmonies of
long time internationally respected musicians. Jerry Stevens (Silver Spring,
Md.) is founder, lead singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer
of five successful Root 1 albums after years of performing with other internationally
known bands Pressure and the Killer Bees. Michael Wong (son of famous Trinidadian
steel pan maker, musician, and composer, Kim Loy Wong) is lead singer-songwriter,
drummer, and producer of 15 years of highly exposed and popular live shows
and studio recordings of the Trinidad Panmasters and World Tribe. Ivan "Bassie"
Liburd (St. Kitt's, U.S. Virgin Islands) is lead singer-songwriter, bassist,
and producer of 17 years of live shows for many famous West Indian and American
reggae acts such as Ellis Hortence, Prince Mohammed, Screw Driver, and One
Destiny. Root 1 shows also feature Deborah Huff Stevens (vocals, guitar,
violin, and
percussion). Many Root 1 live shows (and recordings) will also be extremely
illuminated by the multi-instrumental talents of vocalist &
songwriter Patterson "Raggadon" Martin of Nevis, and Dwayne
"D Madness" Jackson.
